You might remember Raw Edges' plaid bench from the Bench 10 Exhibition last year in London. This year, they've upped the ante and created the PlaidBench Collection for Italian maker Dilmos.
The collection is assembled out of interlocking iconic urban benches into a plaid surface. Most benches are typically assembled in a striped pattern. Shay Alkalay and Yael Mer have deconstructed the common bench and rearranged its pattern to be similar to that of a textile plaid, playfully arranging the colorful boards in both horizontal and vertical fashion.
Using five archetypal benches as their starting point, they've reinvented the bench from its ancestors. Here are the archetypes they worked from along with the process of assembly:
