We declared this year’s Christmas Eve Nativity our favorite one yet. I’m not sure what it was, but I’ll take it!
The cast: Betty was a tender Mary. Oscar was a serious and sober Joseph. Olive was the bold angel. Maude was the sore-afraid shepherd. Ralph was a noble wiseman bearing gifts. June was too big for the manger so the kids suggested she would be a good sheep, and brought her the little sheepskin rug to wear. But she thought that was crazy hilarious and just wanted to see what was up with the doll in the basket. : )
Ben Blair read from Luke and Matthew and we sang some of our favorite Christmas carols. It was sweet and happy. Afterwards, we finished reading the last few chapters of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, which is also sweet and happy.
I can’t believe Christmas is already over! We’ll be driving home tomorrow and I’m remembering the tree and other decorations waiting for us there. I need to start thinking about putting everything away and finding places for the new toys. Last year I recall feeling rushed to put it all away and start packing up for France, but this year I’m feeling the urge to slow everything down.
How about you? Have you already said goodbye to Christmas? Or are you an after New Year’s kind of girl?
