developed by slovakian designer juraj rattaj, 'sculpture as a parking place' ('SAAPP') reconsiders the purpose and possibilities of the parking spaceby using sculptural and architectural pieces to transform small sections of pavement into artistic 'frames' for vehicles. juraj rattaj was just in touch with designboom to let us know about the opening of a website portal for the project. his concept departs from the ideas that he investigated with ján ziška with the sculpture 'value added', designed for the inaugural round of designboom's INFINITI digital art competition, where it placed third from among 500 participants.
'the phenomenon of automobile as a part of our everyday life is offering not just the utility function, but also a means of presentation of our lifestyle and our taste,' rattaj suggests. 'with 'sculpture as a parking place', owners of cars can 'upgrade' their vehicle with a work of art.'
